Toronto-based company, Sapien AI Corp., has secured $5 million in seed funding. The investment round featured contributions from Primitive Ventures, Animoca, Artichoke Capital, and Yield Guild Games.

Sapien, led by Trevor Koverko, Henry Chen, and Kelly Ryan, is creating the world’s largest network of human data labelers. The platform will be utilized by the AI industry to power high-performance models.

The company’s mission is to build the world’s largest network of ‘Sapiens’. This term refers to the millions of humans across the globe who will provide the data to power essential AI models. Koverko, co-founder of Sapien, stated that the funding will be used to expand the team and frontend labeling infrastructure. The goal is to provide better quality data for a growing list of enterprise customers.

Sapien’s platform has already attracted a diverse range of customers from the rapidly growing AI data industry. These clients span multiple sectors, including healthcare, web3, education, and leading LLMs.
