Ocular AI, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup based in Zimbabwe, has been selected for Y Combinator’s winter 2024 batch. The startup, which enables teams within organizations to search, visualize, and automate workflows on a single platform, is the first Zimbabwean company to be admitted into Y Combinator.

Background of Ocular AI

Ocular AI was founded in 2024 by Michael Moyo and Louis Murerwa, former employees of Microsoft and Google. The pair were inspired to create the company after struggling to manage information scattered across various Software as a Service (SaaS) tools.

The platform developed by Ocular AI connects a company’s data from multiple apps, making it easier and quicker to find and use information. This solution serves organizations across various sectors, addressing a universal challenge of information accessibility and streamlined workflows.

Joining the Ranks of Giants

The selection of Ocular AI by Y Combinator is a significant achievement for the startup. Murerwa, expressing his excitement on LinkedIn, stated they were thrilled to be “walking in the footsteps of giants like Stripe, Airbnb, DoorDash, OpenAI”.

With this selection, Ocular AI joins a prestigious alumni network, and gains access to Y Combinator’s renowned mentorship, funding, and global network.
